The
Scientia
What's being done: This new
building has become a major venue for UNSW with its ceremonial Leighton
Hall for formal occasions, a multi-media facility, an auditorium, a cinema/lecture
theatre and seminar rooms. The development includes service tunnels and
landscaping. The fitout of the building will be staged.
The cost: $30 million.
Completion date: Stage 1
May 1999.

The
Rupert Myers Building
What's being done: A new
building will provide accommodation for the School of Optometry and Optometrical
Research Units, Unisearch, the Research Office and parts of the Faculty
of Commerce and Economics. The development will include a substantial courtyard
space and a complete upgrade of Physics Lawn.
The cost: $ 31million.
Completion date: mid 1999.

What's being done: Re-roofing,
major refurbishment and upgrading of facilities with a central reception
for pool and gym, improved access, increased services and general improvements.

Sir Robert Webster Building
What's being done: A new
floor and major refurbishment will provide new facilities for the School
of Music and Music Education; the School of Theatre, Film and Dance; Media
and Communications in the Faculty of Arts and student lounge facilities.

Red Centre
What's being done: New accommodation
for the consolidation of the Faculty of the Built Environment; Electron
Microscope Unit; the School of Mathematics; International Student Centre

Village Green
What's being done: Upgrading
to provide a storm water detention basin and improve all playing surfaces,
lighting and irrigation upgrade and surrounding landscaping.

What's being done: A staged
redevelopment of The Mall, with a broad axial pathway linking activity
squares and adjacent to The Scientia, International Square, Science Square
and upgrading the "Broadwalk" at the western end. The work is
staged with adjacent developments.

Completion date: Staged completion
until 2000+.

Student Centre
What's being done: A partial
refurbishment and renovation of the Library lawn level of the Chancellery
will provide an improved Student Centre.
The cost: $0.75 million.
Completion date: November

Mathews Building
What's being done: A renovation
and fitout on two levels will provide additional large classrooms, a function
and student lounge area on Level 1 and an 'internet cafe' with open access
to 34 computers on Level 2.
